The Strength is the Major Arcana number 8. In traditional decks, it is represented by a woman opening her jaws to a lion, seemingly effortless given her impassive facial expression. Furthermore, it is well understood that he does not feel fear or anxiety in making the gesture. This peculiarity offers suggestions with respect to the interpretation of the card, The Force indicates the ability of the intellect to prevail over the lowest and “wild” instincts. It can often be a difficult task to better address one’s instincts thanks to reason, but Arcana 11 hides the potential to succeed, through one’s will.
On the obverse, one of the typical interpretations of the Force is the ability to dominate the instincts with the intellect, in order to rise above the lower energies. Depending, then, on the topic of the spread, the Beyonder can also be interpreted as a call to action with respect to a situation that hides evidence, as a courage in facing situations, and as being able to exercise one’s will, overcoming every obstacle, with tenacity and perseverance.
When Strength comes out, it is important to make the consultant think, according to the spread, on the possibility of starting to take charge of one’s own existence and the importance of facing one’s challenges with perseverance and determination. Already the appearance of this blade indicates the potential of the querent to overcome all his obstacles, he must simply realize this and act accordingly.It is also important to understand when the person is excessively dominated by the lower instincts, which lead him to adopt dysfunctional attitudes towards himself and towards others. Also in this case there is the potential to get back into balance, when he decides to direct his instincts in the most adequate and balanced way, thanks to reason.
The Strength, extended over money, represents a person with great economic power. He can suggest to the consultant not to give up to close a deal that will bring him a lot of money, but which will require a grueling struggle to be concluded. Associated with the Force we find manual jobs that require fatigue such as: manual worker, worker, boxer, warehouse worker, coach and bouncer; or you work with animals as a trainer, vet, dog sitter, breeder, butcher.
In the spreads on work in general, this Arcanum indicates that the consultant will have to work hard, with all his means, without sparing himself, to achieve his work goals.
In terms of love, the card can indicate that the consultant is investing all his strength in a relationship, or that he is obsessed with his feelings towards a person (from the wording it will be understood whether that person reciprocates his feelings or not). It could indicate that the consultant has not resigned himself at the end of a relationship or that he is living a relationship in which he tends to dominate, or be dominated, excessively by the partner.
Strength is associated with the muscular system and pressure, so it talks about problems with high or low pressure, as well as pathologies of the muscular system. In more general terms on health it indicates a robust person, with a great resistance to pathologies, therefore it is a very positive card on this issue.
