The Devil is Tarot number XV and is the first card of the last seven years of the Major Arcana. Like the Death Card, the Devil too is often misinterpreted, also because of its symbolism. In traditional decks it is represented by a bearded naked figure, with horns, bat wings and a sword in his hand; in the belly there is represented another face, and it holds chained to itself two smaller devils, which are often considered a male and a female. Although the representation of this Arcana changes from deck to deck, the monstrous and bestial iconography wants the human mind to associate it with something that can unconsciously arouse fear and disgust. To best interpret this card, it is necessary to make a clean sweep of the prejudices of which the symbolic figure of the Devil is the victim, that is, being absolute evil.
In reality, this card brings to light the shadow side of the person or situation you are asking about in the spread. It could indicate the need to complete ourselves internally, integrating our luminous aspects with our dark aspects, precisely because the evolved human being is not the one who renounces his lower instincts, but the one who integrates them and manages to put them at his service. This card, therefore, is profoundly evolutionary.
However, there is no lack of more material interpretations, depending on the spread and the papers that accompany it. The Devil, in fact, can indicate a person aimed solely at the satisfaction of the senses and his desires who does not hesitate to manipulate everything in his favor, with extreme skill. The Devil’s card is a fundamental ally if understood at best. It offers the opportunity to work on one’s own dark sides and on the integration of the shadow aspects with the bright ones. It is the Challenger and the Guardian who launches the challenge to complete each other. Those who try to escape the test will continue to live their life in an ordinary way, because only those who decide to face the tests and fight with themselves will be rewarded precisely by their evolutionary growth.
Spread over the money, the Devil indicates that the person could be involved in a shady business and that he must, therefore, pay attention to the investments that are offered to him. It also indicates unscrupulous businessmen, ready to sacrifice everything to make more money. The professions associated with the Devil are those of dubious morality that allow you to earn a lot as: industrialist, drug dealer, porn actor, usurer, gambler or prostitute. Director is also a work associated with this blade, as directors direct the energies of others from behind the ranks. In more general terms at work, the blade can warn about the fierce competition of a colleague or another company, ready to do anything, even what is illegal to get the better of the consultant. If you are looking for a job and this card comes out, the consultant will have considerable difficulty in finding a job, both because the period is not favorable for him, and because he could be influenced by his own negative energies, which prevent him from seeing opportunities. If the person in question is doing creative work, the card is benevolent, because it indicates that a lot of inspiration will come.
Spread out on love, the card indicates a story based exclusively on sexuality, in which romantic love is absent; also, it can indicate the betrayal by the partner.
The Devil is connected to the sexual organs, so it can indicate the risk of sexually transmitted diseases. It also indicates vices that are harmful to the body and the inability to stop with them. In general terms, it often indicates the worsening of a disease.
