The Eight of Swords symbolizes the Consultant’s sense of helplessness. Lost, disoriented, the Consultant does not know what to do to overcome the obstacles or challenges of his environment. The Consultant has a very unpleasant feeling of being “stuck”, trapped.
However – and this is important to stress – the Eight of Swords is not a fatalistic card. On the Map, the young woman could free herself from her fabric ties and remove the blindfold covering her eyes. She could regain the comfort and safety of the city behind her.
The blockage, the “prison” of these Swords planted in a circle therefore symbolize first of all a situation created by the Consultant himself. Logically enough, he or she could shake it off and get on with it on his or her own. The blockage is in particular due to limiting beliefs on the part of the Consultant. These limiting beliefs revolve around: “You are not able to …”; “A man like this, care about you !? Do not even think about it ! “; “Resuming training at your age to change course, that will never work …” These limiting thoughts end up defining our possibilities and therefore we are no longer able to do otherwise, to innovate or to find solutions.
It also happens that the feeling of helplessness is generated by external circumstances. The Consultant “wakes up” dissatisfied with his or her environment and life and wonders how he or she got there.
In any case, it is necessary to “take back control” over the circumstances and to remember that in life, there is always a choice. The possibilities that are in front of you may not be ideal, easy or desired… but they do exist! You have to be able to look them in the face, and choose the best… or the less bad.
The Eight of the Swords is often a sign that now is not the right time to make important decisions, especially when it comes to money and finance. The Consultant has a partial view of his financial possibilities, tinged with limiting thoughts… “I can’t do this because I don’t have the money” or “I could do this if I had so much money. ” Of course, there are situations where this is absolutely true. I can’t buy myself a Porsche if I don’t have enough money. But if I need a car, I can – and it behooves me to do – come up with inexpensive ways to find or use one.
When the Eight of the Sword appears in a Print on the subject of Sentimental Domain, the Consultant feels “stuck” in their romantic relationship. The Card can appear when the Consultant is wondering whether to go or stay … and he cannot decide.
The Consultant is unhappy in this romantic relationship, but limiting thoughts, habits or even the fear of being alone prevent him either from leaving his partner or from engaging in a constructive dialogue with him. These more or less conscious considerations also cause guilt, which further adds to the difficulties and uneasiness.
Rarely this Card appears if the Consultant is looking for love. In this case too, the Consultant feels “stuck”… but not for the same reasons. No matter what he does or tries, nothing works to meet the other. La Carte invites you to look for what could be implemented differently to reverse the trend: work on yourself and your limiting thoughts, try new means of meeting, let go.
